How to Manage Stress During Midterms

It’s the crucial time period that includes reading all of the texts you missed the past few weeks, downing red bulls and venti coffees, and booking last minute arrangements for that spring break trip that is thisclose. With midterms creeping up or already in full swing, we know one more list of how to manage stress during this time will only help!

Get Enough Sleep

Now this is probably the opposite of what you’re thinking. With everyone around you pulling all nighters to read, write, rinse, and repeat, you may feel pressured to do the same. Don’t do this! Getting the 7-8 hours of sleep your body needs, you’ll be able to maximize all of your waking moments and be more effective with the work you are doing.

Cut Sugar, Add Natural

Being short on time means activities like cooking are at a minimum. Stock up on healthy snacks like carrots and hummus, bananas, and lots of water! Your body and brain are in overdrive so be sure to feed it with nutrients. An overdose of sugar may help you for an hour but then your body crashes and needs to start the cycle again. Be sure to also get in a lot of vitamin C so you don’t get sick during this stressful time.

Manage Your Time Wisely

Mapping out your schedule for the week is one of the most important things you can do that should take no more than 30 minutes. Plug in all of your due dates and exam times, and work backwards on which assignments should be done when. After writing your major papers, remember to scan your work so you can be sure you didn’t accidentally plagiarize while reading the text books. Scheduling a nap here and there is also helpful!

With these tips, you’re sure to make midterm period a breeze. Good luck!
