“Shape of You” Credits Additional Writers After Plagiarism Accusation
Ed Sheeran is one of the world’s most beloved musicians today. Nice, charming, beautiful lyrics made for all those feel good moments. His latest hit from the beginning of the year that just can’t get out of your head, “Shape of you” is an interesting case of plagiarism that left both parties feelings happy or at least like they got the credit they deserved.
Ed Sheeran’s hit released earlier this year was accused of being musically similar to the No Scrubs song released in 1999. While the details of the care are unclear, Kandi Burruss, Tameka Cottle, and their producer Kevin Briggs are now listed as some of the writers for Sheeran’s chart-topper.
After they were listed, the former TLC members made sure to thank Sheeran and show them the shape of their hearts by posting on social media.
Plagiarism in music is becoming more and more common and we wonder-is it possible rhythm or lyrics can subconsciously be in the artist’s mind or are they really just that similar?
Have a listen for yourself and let us know-do you think TLC had a case here?
