Copyleaks Data: ChatGPT Leads with a 51:1 Ratio Over Bard in AI Content Scans

ChatGPT Content Scanned 51 Times More Than Bard, Highlighting Its Dominance in AI-Generated Content, Says Copyleaks Data

New York, NY – December 7, 2023 Copyleaks, the leader in plagiarism identification, AI-content detection, and GenAI governance, today announced revealing data that highlights a significant disparity in the use of large language models (LLMs) and AI platforms for content creation. According to Copyleaks data, ChatGPT-generated content is being scanned at a rate 51 times higher than content produced by Google AI’s Bard, showing ChatGPT’s dominant role in the field of AI-generated content.

“This data clearly shows that ChatGPT is used much more frequently than Bard,” said Alon Yamin, CEO and Co-founder of Copyleaks. “ChatGPT, having entered the market just about a year ago, quickly became the fastest adopted technology the world has ever seen, making it the go-to choice for those seeking AI-generated content. In contrast, Bard, despite being developed by Alphabet and having their backing, hasn’t yet achieved the same degree of recognition or ease of use.”

Copyleaks’ data finds that when their AI Content Detector and Plagiarism Detector identify AI-generated content, the majority of it originates from ChatGPT, while only a small fraction comes from Bard. This finding comes after Copyleaks recently expanded its capabilities to include Bard detection, enhancing its role in overseeing AI-generated content and reinforcing its position as the most comprehensive AI content detection platform currently available.

“This ratio highlights the importance of sophisticated AI detection tools like those offered by Copyleaks,” added Yamin. “As AI technology evolves and more players enter the market, the ability to accurately detect and differentiate between various AI sources becomes crucial. It underscores the need for continuous updating and advancement of our detection algorithms to keep pace with the evolving AI landscape.”

In July 2023, a research study published on the Cornell Tech-owned arXiv declared Copyleaks AI Content Detector the most accurate tool for detecting Large Language Models generated text. The study, conducted by four researchers from around the world, analyzed data collected from 124 submissions from computer science students before the creation of ChatGPT. They then generated 40 ChatGPT submissions and used the data to evaluate eight publicly available LLM-generated text detectors.
